We finally arrived on St.
George Island around 4:30 PM after a 300 mile drive from our campground in Georgia. The skies were clear, it was 81 degrees, and
the shore breeze was perfect to cool Wendy and Carl’s rental which is right on the beach…can’t beat it!
After relaxing on the deck for a while we drove into Apalachicola
for dinner at Up the Creek, a restaurant that was located right on the water where shrimp boats dock.
This looks like a scene right out of Forrest Gump, doesn't it?
Tough choices:
shrimp, oysters, & fish served practically any way you’d like it;
fried, grilled, boiled, or broiled. We couldn't decide so we had it all. Delightful.
After dinner we took a driving tour of Apalachicola, enjoying the incredible architecture of many restored homes. Just charming. This once shabby and dilapidated town has really improved since we were last here in the early 90's.
St. George Island is connected to the mainland by a 4 mile causeway and bridge. As we drove back to the island we were treated to a beautiful sunset.
Wow!! Looks like a great time. Really beautiful! I'm glad you're having a great time!
